This plant can be put outdoors year-round in zones 10-11. If temperatures are going to be below 60 degrees F, it is recommended to move this plant indoors. This plant is more commonly found indoors, particularly in terrariums, or hung as a container plant in warmer climates.
Mid-High Maintenance. Begonias like consistent water routines, and like to have a higher humidity level in the home. This is also a very difficult plant to propagate, best to found already propagated.
Begonias like partial shade to partial sun. If outdoors make sure they are not in direct sun for long periods of time, same goes for indoors when placed near a window. Dappled light is ideal.
This plant requires excellent drainage, and does not like soggy soil, also does not like to be completely dried out. This plant does like humidity, and if not by a dehumidifier or in a terrarium, likes to be misted, or put on a pebble tray.
Begonias like a peat based soil mix, that can be made up of 2 parts peat and 1 part perlite, with sand added in.
DOES IT FLOWER?
Yes, it flowers pinkish flowers.
IS IT POISONOUS /TOXIC?
Yes. All parts of the begonia are poisonous, though the roots are considered the most. Keep these away from nibblers.
CAN IT BE PROPAGATED FROM CUTTINGS?
Yes. The most easiest way is through stem cutting.
Too much water can lead to root rot and lack of water can lead to the leaves dropping / Common pests: Fungus Gnats, Mealy bugs and Aphids.
