Hoya Lacunosa "Snow Caps"

OVERVIEW

Considered a dwarf hoya due to the smaller leaves, the Lacunosa is a favorite cultivar of collectors because its flowers give off a wonderful smell of cinnamon. Originating from Indonesia this is a dense vining plant that is great for a hanging basket. Fun fact: The Lacunosa prefers many different leaves, sometimes on the same plant you may see five different leaf shapes. Snow caps feature dabbled specks of white on dark green/reddish leaves.

PLANT SIZE: 
Can reach upwards of 6 feet in a hanging basket. 
COLD HARDINESS: 
The Lacunosa does not prefer temperatures below 50 degrees F.

LIGHT: 
All hoyas prefer bright indirect light, but the Lacunosa can also do very well in interior areas that receive 30-50% natural daylight. 
WATERING: 
The Lacunosa is a creeping epiphyte plant that is commonly found in nature growing along tree trunks. Grown indoors it is great in a hanging basket, but due to it's tiny roots, its best not to overwater this plant. Let the soil dry out between waterings. 
SOIL: 
The Lacunosa prefers a barky type of mixture. Typical mixes include 50% soil (or coir), 25% perlite and 25% bark (orchid bark is fine). 
DOES IT FLOWER? 
Yes. Cream colored, light yellowish wax flowers that have a cinnamon smell
IS IT POISONOUS/TOXIC? 
All Hoyas are considered toxic (as they produce sap similar to the milkweed), but not necessarily poisonous, the amount of ingestion varies from animal, but on a whole the ASPCA regards them as safe to have around pets and children. 
CAN IT BE PROPAGATED FROM CUTTINGS? 
Yes. These can be propagated anytime using stem tip cuttings. It is considered an easier Hoya to propagate.
