Jesse helped design the Platform Retail Space in Culver City, CA while working at Abramson Teiger Architects. This consequently led to her designing multiple retail spaces within this project.
Based on the idea of stacked boxcars, which pulled from the history of the railway that use to carry trolly cars along a route that passed this site (which had recently revived the railway lines for light rail). One of the main focus areas was on the pedestrian experience. How one travels through the space without the use of the car, how they gather around the courtyards, and how they experience the shops. The Platform project sought to redesign the outdoor mall experience into a successful, contemplative, and beautiful indoor/outdoor space. Much thought was given into how to successfully landscape this space, as previously it was a heavily built up old car dealership site, with a number of brownfield locations and no greenery; today it is a thriving ecosystem.
